Meet our Celebrity Instructor 

David Herrera

Watching his mother perform and compete locally in LA as a child, ignited David’s passion for dance. He started out breakdancing on LA street corners at just five years old, often outshining seasoned performers. After college, he would upgrade from a part-time dancer to a full-fledged performer featured on popular Latin and American TV shows.

His journey eventually led him to Texas, where he observed the difference between the local dance scene and the vibrant atmosphere of LA. Determined to bring more styles of Latin dances to Texas, David embarked on a mission to introduce LA-style salsa to Texas. This endeavor not only earned him accolades as an award-winning dance instructor but also marked the beginning of his enduring legacy.

 -- July 2025 Hosted Xtreme bachata concert in Dallas , TX

-- April to July 2025 was asked to host some of the best latin dance events in Austin , TX

at Crazy conchaz ​

  • May 2024: Secured 14 out of 17 first-place wins at the Annual World Salsa Fest in Los Angeles, competing with students in Bachata, Salsa, and Cha Cha Cha on 2.

  • November 2023 to Februrary 2024 was asked to restart the latin dance community in Shreveport , LA  after years with events 

  • July 2023: Awarded Best Intermediate Level and 1st Place Show of the Night at annual Viva Las Vegas Ballroom Dance Competition at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, with student Kat.

  • 2022 The second to last show of the night friday night, in front of thousands at annual world salsa fest in Los Angeles 

  • 2021 Nationwide campaign for State farm teaching salsa & bachata 

  • 2020 Annual Texas Star Ballroom Competition (Dallas): Amateur dance team scored an impressive 93/100.

  • 2020 Featured on Univision radio latino mix 107.9 fm 

  • 2019: Named Best Salsa Dance Instructor in DFW by the Swingout Dance Community.

  • 2019 Taught salsa in Cape town,  South Africa at Salsa Cape Town school 

  • 2018: Student Erika received Best Intermediate Show of the Night at annual Viva Las Vegas Competition at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.

  • 2017 Was invited to speak , teach and perform for Dallas County juvenile department .

  • 2016 On ABC channel 8 in North Texas dancing with reporter Sonia Azad , promoting Dream Fund charity

  • 2015 Featured in well known D magazine muliple times , as hosting the best salsa night in dfw saturdays at Blue mesa in Addison, TX 

  • 2014 Hosted big Karlos Rose bachata concert as heard on latino mix / univision 

  • 2013 With intermediate student Carmen, tied the top pro couple in Dallas ,TX dance competition in latin dances 

  • 2013 On Vive la manana  latin morning show on univision,  dancing and promoting annual viva la salsa charity event for the childrens cancer fund 

  • 2013 On Good Morning Texas promoting Dallas salsa congress 

  • 2013 On Good Morning Texas promoting international swing out championships

  • 2012 Danced alongside global movie stars Antonio Banderas & Salma Hayek for red carpet premiere of movie Puss n Boots 

  • 2011 Taught salsa dancing on episode of nationwide reality TV show Big Rich Texas featured on Bravo

  • 2011 Performed at annual Mardi Gras parade in Shreveport , LA for Vita Latina Magazine & radio station 92.1 FM La invasora . In front of some 400,000 people 

  • 2010 Hosted Prince Royce concert in Dallas , TX 

  • 2010: Student Penny achieved 2nd Place at the Dancing with the Stars competition in East Texas, performing in front of 1,000 people, televised on cable TV.

  • 2010 Performed for national hispanic convention at American Airlines in Dallas,TX 

  • 2009 Competed in local mini match ballroom dance contest with students , against dancers from the south 

  • 2008: Earned 3rd Place Top Teacher at the Annual nationwide Bourbon Street Ball Ballroom Dance Competition in New Orleans.

  • 2007 In Miami , Featured on international latin TV show caso cerrado , as seen on telemundo , with Ana Maria Polo

  • 2007: Secured 3rd Place at the Texas Salsa Championships in Houston.

  • 2007: Student / TV host Amy Vanderoef of ABC Channel 8 claimed 2nd Place in DFW’s Dancing with the Stars, featured on Good Morning Texas.

  • 2006 started first dance group sabrosura dance company

  • 2006 Won latin dance contest in Dallas, TX

  • 2005 Hosted events with Heaven circle promotions 

  • 2004 On local Dallas,TX spanish faith based TV promoting faith based concerts and outreach events

  • 2003 Member of Sabroson dance company in Tijuana , Mexico . Led my Machito Ruiz . Performed for government leaders etc.
